Adult Art Classes in Dublin 13
I run weekly painting classes from my studio in Donaghmede, Dublin 13.
The classes are for adults aged 18+ and are suitable for complete beginners as well as people who already paint and would like some guidance with their work.
I keep each class to a maximum of 8 students, so I have time to work with everyone individually.
You won’t all be painting the same picture. I prefer students to choose something they actually want to paint — ideally something they’d be happy to put on their own wall — and I help you work through it from there.
We work mainly in acrylics and oils.

Paint Something You Actually Want to Paint
You choose a subject or reference that appeals to you — ideally something you would genuinely enjoy seeing on your own wall — and I help you develop the painting from there.
Students work on their own paintings while I move around the group helping with whatever comes up along the way.
That might be colour mixing, composition, brushwork, working from a reference image, building up a painting, using a palette knife, or simply figuring out what isn’t working and how to fix it.
Because everyone is working on something different, you can work at your own pace.
If you’re a beginner, that’s absolutely fine. You don’t need to know what you’re doing before you arrive.
If you already paint, I can help you work through particular problems or develop your technique further.
“Nobody has to toe the line and do what the teacher wants… we get to use our imagination and
run with the projects we have planned. Fran will give you all the time you need
and then back off and let you be you!”
— Lorna

Materials
Students bring their own acrylic or oil painting materials.
If you’re not sure what to buy, I can advise you before you start. Materials are also available to purchase from me if you don’t manage to get everything beforehand.
